In March, our client Alvaro, the general manager of a machinery company, needed to ship two 40GP containers from Wuhan, China, to the destination port. Alvaro's company frequently imports mechanical parts from China.
I suggested that the goods be transported by feeder vessel from Wuhan to Shanghai, and then by a larger vessel from Shanghai to New York. This option, while taking about 10 days longer, was more cost-effective. Alvaro initially didn’t understand why we couldn’t ship directly from Wuhan. I explained that Wuhan doesn’t have direct shipping routes, so the cargo needs to be transported via feeder vessel to Shanghai.
Alvaro’s previous logistics company had only informed him about the local fees in China, without mentioning that there would also be local fees at the destination. When Alvaro disputed these hidden fees with his previous logistics company to no avail, he was forced to pay them in order to retrieve his goods. After this bad experience, Alvaro became very cautious about pricing.
At Sunny Worldwide Logistics, we don’t believe in one-off transactions—only honesty can build lasting relationships. To ease Alvaro’s concerns, I patiently explained the fee details. He recognized my sincerity and the clear, reasonable pricing we offered, and decided to give us a try. After successfully securing the booking, I sent Alvaro real-time photos of the container loading, providing a comprehensive experience. Alvaro was very satisfied with our professionalism.
